CLASS DETAILS

Gloria Jackson-Nefertiti was diagnosed as autistic late in life (in 2019, six months before turning 63). This helped her to better understand herself and why she related to friends and romantic partners the ways she did.

In “Autism & Consent,” Gloria inquires into the following questions:

  • What does consent mean for you, as an autistic person?
  • Are you seen as childlike and non-sexual, unable to consent?
  • Do you frequently find yourself in situations you never consented to? Do you feel forced to agree to these situations?
  • Are there people in your life who won’t take “no” for an answer?
  • Do you have poor personal boundaries?

By promoting open communication and consent in relationships or encounters, Gloria feels more confident in exploring her own desires and speaking up for herself, something that she wants for the participants of Autism & Consent.
